Importance of Zinc Containing Foods

Zinc, an essential mineral needed for body functions to be perfect. Adequacy of zinc will prevent health problems such as skin acne, Alzheimer’s, epilepsy, psoriasis, blood sugar levels are not balanced, slow metabolism, and the sense of taste and smell are disrupted.

Zinc also encourage our immune system. When we had the flu, the researchers believed that cough medicines containing zinc can help stop the virus replication by half. In other studies also showed that zinc has been used to overcome the injury, prevent diarrhea, and slow macular degeneration (a condition causing vision problems).

This mineral is so important, even we need a daily intake of certain amount. But because our bodies can not produce these minerals in nature, we need to consume lots of foods that contain zinc, like oysters, crab, tenderloin, shrimp (steamed or boiled), mushrooms, or spinach.

To get more intake of zinc, following which you can do:
1. Limit your intake of alcohol and coffee. Both types of drinks will increase our desire to urinate. The more often you urinate, the more we remove the zinc.

2. Do not cook too well. Food wich steamed, baked, or boiled too long, will reduce the zinc content by half. Nuts were among the most easily affected.

3. Eat unprocessed foods. Content of zinc in wheat will be lost up to 75 percent when processed. As far as possible avoid too white bread.

4. Add milk formula with zinc for infants. If you are still able to breastfeed the child until the age of six months, you can try adding milk formula with zinc content with your breast milk.

5. Eat lean meat. If you’re not a vegetarian, the best way to get a daily intake of zinc is to eat meat. Fish can be a good source of zinc.

6. Nuts. If you do not like to eat meat, add beans to salads or other menus to boost the amount of zinc. Once again, do not cook it too long so sengnya insoluble content.
